Time Traveler Tours
It was better than a fairy tale.
From the moment Time Traveler Tours was chosen by HRH The Duke of York to participate in Pitch@Palace 7.0...
...to the incredible learning gained from BootCamp at the University of Nottingham in the careful hands of my P@P mentors…
...to honing and refining the Time Traveler Tours' business plan and pitch...
...to being present at St. James Palace on the evening of 25 April with the opportunity to meet and pitch to some of the UK's most influential people…
It was nothing short of incredible. I felt like Harry Potter in the opening scenes of the first movie when Hagrid shows up with a mushed birthday cake and says, “You’re a wizard, Harry.”
"Me?" the stunned boy responds. "I'm... I'm just…. Harry.”
Well, there I was... just Sarah... on stage before a room of 400 people, including HRH The Duke of York, telling them how, by harnessing technology and good old-fashioned narrative, I intend to #TurnHistoryOn to reverse the threat to cultural literacy and #MakeHistoryMatter.
This week I had some amazing -- and very unexpected -- news:
Time Traveler Tours is one of 42 startups to be selected to participate in the prestigious Pitch@Palace challenge!
Established only three years ago by The Duke of York (that's Prince Andrew, Charles's younger brother), Pitch@Palace has already helped over 247 businesses grow, with some enjoying huge global success. It offers us the chance to get the TTT&T concept in front of an audience of global influencers who could be in a position to help catapult us to the next level.
Honestly, I'm not really sure how it happened (or what to wear to the event), but I'm totally going to go for it...
To think that two years ago this month we were pulling together our resources to launch the 2015 Kickstarter campaign that resulted in the product you will soon be holding in your hands. Exactly one year ago this week, I was on the ground in Florence, walking in Michelangelo’s footsteps, researching the tour for our coming story app. With Mary Hoffman’s manuscript acting as my portal to the past, I time-traveled to the Renaissance to treasure hunt for evidence of our narrator’s life and work. That’s also when I started to sow the seeds of our current partnerships with the Bargello Museum, Medici Chapels, San Lorenzo Basilica, Foundation Casa Buonarroti, Guided Florence Tours, Antica Torre Via Tornabuoni 1, and the Paperback Book Exchange.
Happy New Year! Melissa here, Community Manager for Time Traveler Tours. Sarah is story hunting in Cuba at the moment and therefore offline.
While she's away, I thought I'd take the opportunity to log in and update everyone on some news and upcoming awesomeness we have in store for the next couple of months of 2017!
