I am honored to join Dina Friedman, author, social justice activist, and fellow Witness at the Border, in a joint reading and author talk about our respective experiences in the US/Mexico borderlands.
Dina’s 2023 release, Immigrants, was recently short-listed for the Eric Hoffer Prize and received first-runner-up designation for the short-story category. Her latest poetry collection, Here in Sanctuary, Whirling, earned accolades from award-winning poet Rich Michelson, who states: “In deceptively plain-spoken language that reaches deep into what it means to be human, Dina uses her words to sharpen our senses and focus our attention...She teaches us, with humor, horror, love, and concentration what it means to truly see and listen to those in need. Here in Sanctuary—Whirling is a beautiful and important book of poetry."
