JUNE 18: WORLD REFUGEE WEEK 2024 PUBLICATION DAY!

CROSSING THE LINE Crosses the Line at San Francisco’s Medicine for Nightmares Bookstore and Gallery!

It was the launch party to define all launch parties, an actual dream come true…

It started with a radio interview, blossomed into a beautiful food spread accompanied by original music by Francisco Herrera, the Bard of the Mission, then Crossing the Line spread wings and flew into the world in the company of family and friends — both old and new, and from all points of my life, including my lovely daughter, Lily. The perfect event was topped off with an engaging conversation with mi hermano y compañero as well as one of the book’s blurbers and first readers, Camilo Perez-Bustillo.

My heart was so full! I didn’t want the evening to end. So we kept it going at a Mission bar until they kicked us out.

My gratitude to the National Lawyers Guild, San Francisco Bay for hosting such an incredible book launch event. I felt so embraced. My appreciation knows no bounds.

My love, too, to every single person who came — you know who you are — and to all those who wanted to, but were not able to at the last minute — we missed your presence but felt your supportive spirit.

Also, it was my first-ever book signing. And I loved it!

Remember: Their hope knows no borders. And our cruelty in the face of it is simply not okay.

We can do better.

We must do better.

To prepare for the day, me and my young besties, Lily and Leah Hardenbergh (one of my many 2nd daughters), spent the day in the cathedral of nature getting into the zone by communing with the California Redwoods.

And it all made me feel fearless! Thank You, Kate Scott, for the talisman! XOXO

The night before, June 17, we watched the sunset from Muir Woods. It was magical. A good sign, indeed.
